Bioplastics are plastics which are either derived from renewable resources (such as vegetables, starch or plants) or plastics which are biodegradable. Traditional plastics, which are derived from petroleum, rely more on scarce fossil fuels and produce more greenhouse gas. Some, but not all, bioplastics can biodegrade or compost. Biodegradable bioplastics can break down in either anaerobic or aerobic environments, depending on how they are manufactured.

A degree qualified Engineer by training, Graham Whitchurch has been involved within many areas of the plastics industry since 1986.
Initially working for some major companies such as British Polythene Industries & Huntsman within engineering, maintenance & manufacturing his expertise was in the installation and commercialisation of new lines.
Since 1999 Graham has worked entirely in the biopolymer industry. Originally as a Manufacturing Director for Adept Polymers and a main board Director for Stanelco plc, who also supplied both PVOH & starch based polymers.
Graham's own speciality is in the material selection, formulation & processing of biopolymers. During the last few years he has travelled extensively introducing biopolymers to potential customers and running trials at customer facilities on all types of conversion equipment.
